Contractual instruments

Adapted from the GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance: Any type of contract between two parties for the sale and purchase of energy bundled with attributes about the energy generation, or for unbundled attribute claims. The availability of contractual instruments differs across markets and can include energy attribute certificates (e.g., RECs, GOs), green tariffs, energy supply contracts (for both low-carbon, renewable or fossil fuel generation), power purchase agreements (PPAs), and equity investments.
