Energy Attribute Certificate

A set of contractual instruments that convey information about energy generation including energy attribute claims. These instruments vary across markets but include certificates, guarantees, tags, and credits. Some examples are renewable energy certificates (RECs and iRECs), guarantees of origin (GOs), and generator declarations. For a reporting company to make renewable energy claims, it must have rights to the energy attributes and those rights cannot be conveyed to other parties.
